1. What is AI SEO and how is it different from traditional SEO?

AI SEO focuses on improving how a website is discovered, understood, retrieved, and represented across modern search experiences, including Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, and other AI powered search systems. It builds on traditional SEO rather than replacing it, with greater emphasis on search intent, topical coverage, entity clarity, structured content, technical accessibility, and useful first hand expertise.

An AI SEO expert combines established SEO practices with an understanding of how modern search systems retrieve, interpret, connect, and present information. My approach focuses on technical SEO, content quality, entity clarity, search intent, topical authority, query fan out, and measurable search visibility rather than relying on unverified AI search hacks.

Generative Engine Optimization, commonly called GEO, refers to strategies intended to improve a brand’s visibility within generative search experiences. In Google’s documentation, GEO and AEO are industry terms rather than separate Google ranking systems. Google recommends continuing to apply foundational SEO practices to generative AI search.

Answer Engine Optimization focuses on making information clear, useful, and easy for answer oriented search experiences to understand and surface. My AEO approach uses search intent analysis, direct answers, structured content, topical depth, internal linking, and entity relationships while keeping the content useful for human visitors.

LLM SEO refers to optimizing a website’s content and information architecture so that large language model based search experiences can better understand the subject, entities, relationships, and context represented by the website.

The practical focus should remain on accessible, useful, well structured, trustworthy content rather than attempting to manipulate a specific language model.

6. Is AI SEO replacing traditional SEO?

No. Google states that SEO remains relevant because its generative AI search experiences are rooted in core Search ranking and quality systems. AI SEO should therefore be treated as an extension of strong SEO fundamentals rather than a replacement for technical SEO, content quality, crawling, indexing, internal linking, and user experience.

Google AI Mode is designed for more exploratory and complex searches and can use query fan out to issue multiple related searches across subtopics and information sources. This means a strong SEO strategy should cover the broader topic and its meaningful relationships instead of focusing only on one isolated keyword.

Query fan out is a process where an AI search system generates multiple related searches to investigate different aspects of a user’s original question. Google describes this as concurrent related queries used to gather additional information and relevant search results.

I use query fan out as a research framework to identify meaningful subtopics, related questions, entities, comparisons, supporting information, and content gaps that can strengthen topical coverage.

I start with the primary search intent and expand it into related questions, supporting entities, subtopics, comparisons, definitions, problems, solutions, and commercial considerations. These relationships are then mapped into an appropriate content structure rather than creating unnecessary pages for every query variation.

Topical authority refers to the depth and breadth of useful information a website provides around a subject. Building topical authority involves covering important aspects of a topic comprehensively while maintaining logical relationships between pages, entities, and user intents.

11. What is Entity SEO?

Entity SEO focuses on helping search systems understand identifiable people, businesses, products, organizations, locations, concepts, and their relationships. A strong entity strategy connects relevant information across a website and supports clear understanding of what a brand represents and what it is known for.

Experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness provide an important framework for creating reliable people first content. My approach incorporates first hand experience, accurate information, transparent authorship, supporting evidence, clear business information, and content that genuinely addresses the user’s needs.

Google’s guidance emphasizes unique, valuable, helpful, reliable, people first content and specifically highlights the value of unique perspectives and first hand experience.

Structured data can help search engines understand and process information, but Google states that there is no special schema markup required for inclusion in AI Overviews or AI Mode. Structured data should therefore support an overall SEO strategy rather than being treated as an AI visibility shortcut. Google also recommends that structured data match the visible content on the page.

No. Google’s current documentation states that Google Search does not use llms.txt or other special AI text files for its Search or generative AI capabilities. Creating such files does not improve or harm visibility in Google Search.

No. Creating separate pages for every possible query variation can produce unnecessary or repetitive content. Google recommends focusing on what users actually need rather than creating content primarily to manipulate rankings or generative AI responses.

My approach is to identify meaningful search relationships and consolidate related intent where one strong resource can satisfy multiple queries.

16. Does AI SEO require a completely different content writing style?

No. Google states that you do not need to rewrite content in a special way solely for generative AI systems. AI systems can understand synonyms and broader meanings, so content should be written primarily for people while maintaining clear structure, useful information, and strong topical relevance.

There is no required content length or requirement to divide content into tiny sections for AI systems. Google recommends creating content for the audience and notes that both shorter and longer pages can work depending on the subject and user needs.

Technical SEO remains fundamental because AI features rely on content that Google can access, crawl, index, and retrieve. Google states that pages must be indexed and eligible to appear in Search with a snippet to be eligible as supporting links in AI Overviews or AI Mode.

Yes. Google states that there are no additional technical requirements or special optimizations required for AI Overviews or AI Mode beyond the existing requirements and SEO best practices for Google Search. However, meeting those requirements does not guarantee that a page will be crawled, indexed, or displayed.

Start with the same fundamentals that support strong organic search performance: create useful and reliable content, make important information accessible to search engines, maintain a clear technical structure, strengthen internal linking, address search intent, and build meaningful topical coverage.

I then analyze the website’s entities, content relationships, search queries, technical accessibility, and opportunities for broader AI search visibility.

21. How do you measure AI SEO performance?

AI SEO can support organic visibility when it improves the website’s ability to satisfy relevant search intent and appear across evolving search experiences. However, traffic outcomes depend on the website, market, competition, content quality, technical condition, search demand, and implementation.

I do not treat AI SEO as a guaranteed traffic increase.

There is no required content length or requirement to divide content into tiny sections for AI systems. Google recommends creating content for the audience and notes that both shorter and longer pages can work depending on the subject and user needs.

AI search can provide users with information directly within the search experience, but Google also states that AI Overviews and AI Mode provide links that allow users to explore supporting websites. Google has also reported that clicks from search results pages with AI Overviews can be higher quality, with users more likely to spend more time on the site.

The impact on clicks therefore needs to be evaluated using actual Search Console and analytics data rather than assuming that every AI search produces a traffic decline.

Yes. Local businesses can benefit from strong technical SEO, accurate business information, location relevance, helpful local content, internal linking, reviews where appropriate, and an accurate Google Business Profile.

Google notes that local business information can appear within AI experiences and recommends keeping Business Profile information up to date where relevant.

Small businesses can benefit from the same foundational SEO and AI search principles used by larger websites. The strategy should be based on the business’s market, search demand, competition, website condition, available resources, and customer search behavior rather than business size alone.

26. Which industries can benefit from AI SEO?

AI search optimization can be relevant to businesses in industries where customers research services, products, providers, problems, comparisons, or solutions through search.

The appropriate strategy depends on the industry’s search behavior and the type of information customers need before making a decision.

Yes. AI SEO should generally build on an existing SEO foundation rather than operate as a completely separate campaign.

I review the current technical SEO, content architecture, keyword targeting, internal linking, entities, search intent, and existing performance before identifying opportunities for AI search optimization.

Strong rankings provide a useful foundation, but search behavior and search interfaces continue to evolve. An existing SEO strategy can be reviewed for topical coverage, entity clarity, technical accessibility, content depth, and opportunities across newer search experiences.

The objective is not to replace what already works, but to identify gaps that may affect future search visibility.

There is no reliable universal timeframe for AI SEO results. Changes can depend on the website’s authority, technical condition, content quality, competition, search demand, implementation speed, crawling, indexing, and the search systems involved.

I therefore evaluate progress through measurable changes rather than promising a fixed number of days.

I begin by understanding your business, target audience, website, current search visibility, competitive landscape, technical condition, content coverage, and search objectives. From there, I identify opportunities across traditional SEO, AI search, AEO, GEO, entity SEO, topical authority, and query fan out.

The engagement can focus on strategy, implementation, consulting, auditing, or ongoing SEO management depending on your requirements.
